40 Days Starts Right Here!!

Ooooops! Off to a great start - it got too dark to take a photo of the fabby prize up for grabs today!

40days? Fabby Prize?? I shall explain:
It is 40 days until my 40th birthday & what better way to celebrate (& drag out the festivities) than with all my online friends. Yup! 40 days of freebies & a whole host of blogs to visit. Just check out the '40 Days' links to see who we have taking part so far! This is international folks ... the UK, USA, Australia, Tasmania & there's no telling who else might join in along the way!
Every day there will be a new challenge, competition or good old fashioned RAK with a great prize. Every day, there will be a post here on my blog, with a link to that day's venue - so make sure you come back every day to see what is on offer

Today's Offering?
They say that life begins at 40 & I'm hoping that they are right! LOL. So today, post me a comment with your idea for what I should do to make sure my 40s are fabulous. And just to make sure no-one misses out with the whole time zones thingy ... you have until midnight (BST) Thursday July 3rd to join in!! I'll draw a winner using the random number generator & announce it here on Friday July 4th. AND for every 40 comments ... I'll add another prize!!!
Prize? Oh yeah! The prize huh? I'm still lovin chipboard right now - so each winner will receive 40 chipboard die cuts - ready to ink, paint, stamp & alter to your heart's desire.

Oh and my idea for making your 40s fab...Do something new everyday or every week. Doesn't have to be big, just something new... Challenge yourself to find something and do it.

Wow! A big birthday as all those with a number followed by a zero are! All I can say is that you have 10 years to fill, all those days, hours, minutes so go fill them! If you did a list of 40 things you want to do when in your 40's, you do 4 a year and then all the other amazing life experiences are on top. Make your 40's a time that your daughters/nieces/any female under 40 won't fear but instead can't wait to reach themselves!! Happy birthday soon!!

i have a little experience in this age bracket..a LITTLE lol. What i have tried to do each year is make a memorable party/event sometime during the year. eg. we have hosted a casino and a cranium (adult version)evening. Although lots of work they are a highlight of the year..both for me and for the attendees..the main thing is -have fun! Great idea for your blog too. ssf

There's huge congrat's looming on your horizon, girl! I can tell you from experience ... the FORTIES ARE FABULOUS! The BEST years of your life! You look your best in your 40's .. you feel your best .. you have confidence, you have wisdom, and you have enough energy to enjoy everything that life has to offer!

If I could offer any suggestions for what to do when you hit 40 ... my advice would be ENJOY IT! Bathe in the glow that will surround you ... confident and beautiful!

.... and drink a glass of wine everyday!! hahahahaha

Wow I'm really looking forward to checking back here daily for the next 40 days.
I suggest that during the 10 years of your 40th decade, you take a few minutes out of each week to get to know yourself and who YOU are, what you like about yourself, what you want to acheive and how to do it. Don't set unattainable goals, just little but fun things that you KNOW that you can achieve, that way you will enjoy it and life more. Women really start to come into thier own when they reach 40 starting to loose inhibitions, so embrace it, tease it, flaunt it and have some FUN!!!!

Woohoo good luck and enoy your next chapter of womanhood Bev!

Go buy something special for yourself once a month. If you are like me, everything was for my kids when I was in my late 20's and 30's. Go out and buy a new blouse, get a mani/pedi, splurge on highlights at the hairdresser...you got the idea...just pamper yourself once a month.

My idea for making your 40's fab is to keep growing. Try new things out. Make a list of the top ten things you have always wanted to do and complete one each year.

Steph Ackerman said...

I say challenge yourself daily - try something you haven't done before. Doesn't need to be big or expensive, just something little. ANd then celebrate on the BIG day.

Well wishing you an early Happy Birthday. What a fun way to celebrate getting to 40. Let's see, I'd make a list of 40 things you want to either try, do, see, etc & work on the list during your 40's.

Ruth said...

I can think of plenty of things but I wouldn't post half of them for public viewing!!! LOL!
I think you should write down loads of hopes, goals and wishes you have had through your life, or have now and try to achieve at least 10 of them!

Heather said...

I think you should make the most out of your 40s by trying as many new things as possible. Make a list of things you want to accomplish and try to do every single one. :) It should be fun!

I would advise you to start taking care of yourself, and treating yourself to some little extravagances. YOU are important and make life special for yourself :-)

Well, my dear, 40 is not so bad...it's actually quite nice! I've been there...done that and look at me, I am still here!!! LOL!! Having fun with the 40 days!!!

I would say do something that you've always wanted to do but been too shy or nervous to do it.
Life really does begin at forty and it is worth celebrating a life well lived.
PS I am willing to take over from Stella (journalingjunkie) let me know if you want to continue too?

Woohoo!!! What to do? Do something you've always wanted to do but haven't yet. Go on a cruise? Skydive? Scuba dive? Travel somewhere you've been dreaming of going! :)
Hope you have a great one.

Oh boy there are so many things that you could do but I think the best advice is to be yourself and make everyday count. Will try to visit every day luv Auntie Jane

Do something fabulous that you have always thought was intersting but never found the time to do.

Throw a "Hawaiian Party" or a "Dressed Up to Get Messed Up Party" where you invite all your friends and everyone must wear a cute cocktail dress and the men must wear ties. Just going to get your hair done and putting on some makeup for a special night can help you relive some of the memorable moments of your life.

What a great idea! I'm going to be 45 soon and what I've realized in my 40's is that you have to trsut yourself and your decisions, they are usually the right ones for you.

My gosh, I think everyone here has said it all, but I guess I'll just reinforce that :)

Enjoy your 40's, slow down and take the time to savour it. I know it sounds corny but I think as we get older we certainly learn to appreciate things so much more than we did when we were younger.

I like the idea of trying something new. It doesn't have to be free falling from a plane or something like that, could be something as simple as eating Greek food for the first time. Change is good. Embrace it :)

Okay, so 40 isn't so bad after all ... truly.

Every day is a challenge and some days are more challenging than others. But make the most of every day.

Wishing you a great "40 days to 40". What a way to celebrate... I might just pinch your idea for my 40th later this year!

Enjoy your 40s any which way you like. According to those I know who've been 40 or more for years, they say that life only gets better from here on.

My idea to celebrate your 4th decade is to keep a journal/diary for the whole of the 10 years. Write in your feelings, ideas, inspirations and everything. Then in your 5th, 6th & 7th decades (and more!!) you can read back through all the memories. You can also share the diaries with other female relations/friends who are coming up to their 4th decade. I would love to read as I am halfway through my 3rd decade at the mo!!

Beverley Todd said...

Wow Ruth! I love your diary idea ... Think I Might just have to decorate a new journal for that very purpose! LOL

Some fantastic ideas ladies - wonder if I can do them all in just one decade!!!

So many ideas for turning 40!
There could be something in your life you've wanted to do for so long but not had that right moment for it,if you know what i mean, with rushed lifestyles, kids, work etc it might be waiting out there for you to grab it. A missed opportunity can come round again and seize that chance again.
Happy Birthday!!

Hi Beverley - sorry I couldn't get around to the "masculine" challenge as came down with a nasty cold and just didn't feel like scrapping :( Anyway, congratulations on reaching 40 soon. As an avid traveller, I would have to say make sure you go to a new place you've never been to before, make yourself a travel journal before you go (I never buy store-bought ones these days!), bring a Polaroid if possible, and while you're there, take heaps of Polaroid shots to go with your journalling, as well as heaps of digital shots so that you can scrapbook them when you get home and relive your memories over and over! -Bibiana :)

My suggestion is to do something every day that makes you happy, even if it is just a little thing. You could even make a little book of your happy things which will be nice to look back on & see what has changed. Have a happy birthday when it comes :)

The best way to make your 40s (or any age) count is to live life to the fullest and make sure you take a little time for yourself! Don't sweat the small stuff!!!!

Kim said...

Hmmm....what should you do to make the f40s fabulous--I think you are going to be just fine--if you cooked up THIS little extravaganza for your bday!!! :)

I think you should just try to enjoy each day and the people around you! Let the little things roll off your back. (Wait, I guess this could make any decade fab! :) )

Have lots of fun Bev !!!
and have a great birthday Celebration !! (when is the exact date for you??)

Beverly, I don't know how much more I can add to the wonderful comments and ideas for making your 40s fabulous, but I just turned 40 last October so I am on this journey with you! It's a time to start having a new attitude. I started going out and doing things for myself like getting out there to do more serious scrapbooking and papercrafting, meeting tons of new people, taking care of my health, the list goes on... My marriage and my five year old are the best things that have happened to me but It doesn't have to be a child or a husband that defines you as a person (wife, mother). I think that many of the previous posts mention how it's really a time to get to know yourself and do new things and really enjoy new experiences at this time in our lives! Have a wonderful birthday!
