What A Weekend!

So I finally got a chance to craft today - after constant interruptions 'til 1.30pm. I only managed to get a few cards done - with it being World Cardmaking Day yesterday, I was kinda in a card making frame of mind (it'll be layouts later in the week!)
Anyway, these two cards are from Janelle Richmond sketches over on Sketch This! Cards. I've not been over there for a couple of weeks (heck, I've not been anywhere for a couple of weeks!) so it was a bit of a shock to find that they are looking for new DT members - I'd soooooo love to be one! So the deal was you e-mail over two card designs based on a pick of three sketches.
The snowflake card uses the new Frost Pillow flock paper from the Heidi Grace Frost Boulevard collection. It has a fabby all-over velvet texture, so is perfect for making luxury Christmas cards. It doesn't come out too well on the photo but the smaller snowflake is mounted on foam tape & the sheer ribbon (from HOTP Icy Rainbow) is attached to the centre with a pewter snowflake, wraps around the inside of the card & is fixed under the snowflake along with the lurex ribbon.
The second card is actually KTPs birthday card, from the birthday swap on our forum (you should come chat with us - we love meeting new people!) I hadn't got it done in time to post on Thursday expecting to make it Thursday night and post Friday - I didn't know there were postal strikes from Friday to Wednesday of this week (or forever - it's one or the other!). Having a little more time, I decided to leave it until the weekend. So I used another of Janelle's sketches, HOTP 12x12 loose papers (here & here - I often use these for cards in classes), The printed ribbon & fibre are also HOTP & the gems (flower centres) are from A Muse (I didn't use gems 'til I discovered these!) The numbers are die cut from chipboard & covered with the same background paper.
I'd really love a place on the Sketch This! DT but if I don't get it, at least I got a couple of fabby cards out of entering.
